All Smiles...

Where did October go?! Granted there are still a few days left, but November is less than a week away. that means Thanksgiving is coming up, and Christmas, and new years, and then my birthday!!! HOLY COW!!! Craziness! I am excited to share the holidays with Mike this year! That's another thing. I cant believe that Mike and i will have kinda been seeing each other for almost a whole year, but technically we didn't become official until the spring :P.

So I've been crazy busy this month. Two weddings, work, families, work parties, and friends. For some reason this was a very stressful month for me. I got overwhelmed and booked myself to full. For now on im going to try and leave more room for free time. Both the weddings were beautiful and super fun to go to. I was in one of them, and i was honored to be apart of Katie and Terry's special day. I am also glad to say i have no more weddings to attend this year and as of now I am not apart of any weddings next year!!

These are the fun people i work with at the salon. The other wedding i went to was my friend Bethany, not pictured. She works at Utopia with all of us.
Instead of a work Christmas party Utopia goes out to Roca scray farm. It was fun. i never go to haunted rides and houses to get scared, but its fun to see all the stupid girls scream to get attention from the guys they go with. If i pulled that shit with Mike he would just laugh at me.And here is the first picture of my awesome Halloween costume i made all from scratch, you would be so proud of me Nicole!! First off that is not Mike next to me. that is just some guy i saw and had to take my picture with because one he is Swedish Chef from The Muppets, also because he is a chef and I'm food! Anyways as you can see i am bacon and eggs. I will post a better picture soon. i used felt, cotton balls, wire and duct tape to make my costume. i was very impressed it turned out better than i was expecting.

On to the next subject...Mike and his beard!!

Before:

After:

SoooOOooooooOOo.....CUTE!!! I wont lie....i was a little nervous for him to shave his face! I've only seen pictures of him without a beard, but they weren't very good pictures. So when he decided that he was going to shave it for his Halloween costume, Ron Swanson-pictures to come, i was excited and nervous. I was also surprised he went through with it. But damn does he look smokin!! The only thing is he hates being clean shaved because he is such a baby face, and now people are also saying we look alike. so hopefully he will keep it like this for awhile because the minute he starts to grow his beard, i doubt i will ever see him like this again!

And of course i couldn't end this post without a picture of my baby Elvis!!! This is from last year. One of my favorite pictures. I took him to the vet to get his nails trimmed, they were curling! and this office has a cat that wonders around, i think his name was Frankie. and when i was paying the cat ran over and was sniffing Elvis. Then he went from sniffing to a slow paw up in the air ready to smack Elvis and the vet chick would say, "Frankie!" He would immediately put down his foot like....whaaa...i wasn't going to do anything bad...and then he would go for it again. Instead of being worried for Elvis i couldn't help but laugh and take pictures....don't worry Elvis...i wouldn't of let anything happen to you...

so....i would like to say i love you all and hope your fall is going as fabulous as mine!!!

Yay....It is FALL!!!!!

What a crazy month September was!!! Can't believe it is October. The weather has finally cooled down, the air smells like fall. So delicious!! Life has been busy, in both a good and bad way. Lets start with the bad, work of course. Although i have to work everyday the salon has been slowing down. You would think that would be nice, however sitting at work watching movies doesn't pay my bills. I'm hoping this doesn't last very long, i would like to live off something other then ramen noodles :p. As for Ivanna Cone and Paintyourself Silly they are pretty same old same old. I'm excited that next month Ivanna is going to have an art show. I'm going to put in some of the art I've painted at sillys.

Now for the better. Mike and I just finished watching Mad Men, well what we could. Season five is going to begin in the winter i believe. After watching the show all you want to do is smoke and drink. I, however, quit smoking. So that is a very positive thing. I definitely have cravings sometimes, but Ive gone little over a month without a cigarette and i don't want to go back!! So instead i have a nice drink every once in a while. We've started to make our own old fashioned here at home.Nothing like some bourbon, orange, and cherry!!! Not only has Mad Men been giving me a craving for a good drink, i also want to dress and wear my hair and makeup from the 60s. What an awesome era!

Thats one of grandma Iris's scarf i have. So i rolled it up and went to work! I also added one of my favorite necklaces of hers later in the day. It is the pretty owl necklace. So when we aren't pretending to be from the 50-60s we are hanging out with friends, families, and fun date nights.

The other night we stayed in and cooked dinner and watched tv shows. I made sloppy joes in the crock pot. Not too bad, next time i think i will add more mustard. i then made scotcharoo's. Mike has never had one. It is like a rice krisipe treat, but made with butterscotch and peanut butter. the only bad part is i totally burned the sugar as i was cooking, we didn't find this out until we were biting into the treat. Hard. As. A. Rock. Not my best, but we all have to fail sometimes.

Because i haven't been able to update for awhile I'm going to break up the post a bit, but i wont end this one without a few more cute pictures :)

Sit back and relax....

When I was a kid I thought Labor Day was a day where all the pregnant women in the world had their babies, no matter how far along they were. It made me worried because what if they weren't full term, and damn that would be a lot of birthdays to celebrate on one day. that was not the case I've come to found out! :)

What a week!! I have been very busy at home. My goal was to get all laundry, cleaning, and shopping done before Labor Day weekend, because i wanted to enjoy my one day off from all of my jobs. this meant not going out with people and instead coming home and being responsible. Grrr...making the right decision isn't fun, but it was worth it!

During my time of cleaning i was looking at Elvis and couldn't believe how dirty and smelly he was....soooo i quickly looked up online for what i needed to get to give him a bath! It was very simple. i needed a little container to put him in, puppy or guinea pig shampoo, and towels. This was his first bath. I've given guinea pigs at the zoo baths, but it has been many years. Elvis didn't care for it very much, but he handled it very well. He is just now talking to me again, and coming up to the door when i open it to feed him. No one would ever think guinea pigs hold grudges, but they do, hehe!!
I tried uploading the video of the bath, but it takes forever on this blog site. It is in my videos on my facebook page. I strongly suggest watching it, if you need a good laugh!

Labor Day Weekend. What a crazy busy weekend of sitting on my couch and watch TV shows from Sunday night to Monday night. Some might say i wasted my time and should have been more productive, however, that is all i wanted to do! Mike stayed over Saturday night because he was filming a short down in the Haymarket, so i got up and drove him down there around 8a.m. I am usually never up at this hour, when i dont need to be, but instead of going to sleep I stayed productive and went to the store, showered and got ready for work. It ended up being perfect. He got done filming around the time i got off work. So we went home and cooked dinner, Tuna Steaks, and watched Mad Men!! It was so nice for us both to be home and cook a lovely dinner!
I cooked the tuna steak in the oven at 450 degrees for probably about 30-40 minutes. Neither one of us have really cooked raw fish, so we weren't sure how to go about everything. While the fish was baking i made brown rice, and sauteed re/orange peppers, corn, onion and a type of green pepper. i put some spices on the veggies to give it a kick. right before the fish was done i steamed some asparagus. We both agreed this dish was amazing. Probably one of the best dinners I've made. We can't wait to cook more fish. We both love to cook different dishes. i just wish at least one of us liked washing dishes.

Now for Monday!!! LaBoR dAy Is FiNaLlY hErE!!! Mike and I went to bed pretty early Sunday night and we didn't set the alarm so we could sleep in at late as we wanted too! We ended up getting up around nine, so i made bacon, eggs, and pancakes for breakfast. I was so excited to make pancakes because i found an awesome recipe i enjoy using, however i was out of milk. So i used water, honey, and some vanilla to try and keep it sweet. lets just say they were edible, but i wont be making those again.

We were extremely lazy some might say. We watched the entire third season of Sons of Anarchy. It's a show on television we both enjoy watching. Half way through the show they end up going to Ireland so for dinner I prepared corned beef and cabbage, honey cornbread, feta cheese mashed potatoes, and peach blueberry cobbler.

I tried a new recipe this time. I got it off of allrecipes.com I used two cups of apple juice, one cup of water, and one cup of beer. I put the beef in and topped with potatoes carrots and cabbage. the recipe only said to use 4 cups of apple juice. I was afraid that would be over kill on sugar so i broke it up. It was super yummy.

The beef and veggies cooked for a little over 8 hours on low. the cabbage was full of flavor, however next i might leave it out of the crock pot until maybe an hour left of cooking, that way it isn't as soggy. The mashed potatoes I have made before, its one of Mikey's favorite side dishes. that boy loves feta cheese.

I have never made a cobbler before. I was very excited to try it out. i think it turned out pretty darn good. Lately I've been on a kick for blueberries, so this really hit the spot for me. I think my cobbler making could use a little practices, but next time i want to try a crisp. I believe those are the dishes that have the more crumble type of crust on top.
I believe it is safe to say, I had a very lovely weekend! Life in general is going great. I have wonderful friends and family surrounding me. I enjoy taking a step back and realizing how lucky I am to be where i am at today. Love you all.

No where to go but up...

I've actually have been very excited to do another blog entry, in fact i wanted to do another one the day after, however not that much happens in 24hrs in my life! Now that the weekend is over and its a Monday, blah, I figured might as well check in. I had a nice weekend. Saturday was the first of many to come where i don't have to work 14-16 hours!!! I am very excited for this. I can look forward to having a night with friends or family or time to my self. There is only one other day i get off at Five and that is Sunday. Usually i don't get off work until 11-1130 at night, which makes for a very long and tiring day.
Below are pictures of my latest ink!!!!! I got my feather outline started in end of June and finally got it finished this last weekend. I wasn't sure how i wanted the feather colored. I knew i didn't want to do a typical peacock feather, but couldn't decide how i wanted it. I told Kevin, the artist at Iron Brush, that i was thinking maybe purples and teals. This is what he came up with:

side note: i am not topless my shirt is just pulled down :P. It looks great. I am still getting use to it. i thought it was super pretty just as an outline, so for this pop of color i need to live with it for a while, but i do love it!! I am excited for my next tattoo. I am going to wait probably till the Summer or Spring. They are addicting and expensive, so i like to try and space them out. Granted i went three years without getting one.
I had a yummy dinner on Sunday!!! mmm...nothing like a home cook dinner, and great company. After i got to go hang with Mikey and his brothers. Mike and i played a game of pool....I'm not very good. It was looking pretty like Mike was going to beat me with all my balls still on the table, but at the end we were both gunning for the eight ball, he won.
I love that even if i feel uncomfortable to talk to him about things that are going on in my life, I still find the strength to share it with him. I know there is no judgement on his end, only listening ears and encouraging kisses. We had a great night and i look forward to many more with him.
Well. That is life so far! Now its Monday and everything starts all over again....
And here is a cute little pic of Elvis...how does this not make you smile...he just got done eating a tomato so he has a red mustache...he says hheeelllooo in guinea pig talk, of course. :)

Testing...1, 2, 3...anybody there?!

My first entry. The more interesting question is how many more will there be? I'm going to try and keep an updated blog. I have so many friends and family all over the world, and i want to keep in better contact! Just as a side note, i will not correct my grammar or spelling! I'm hoping writing a blog will eventually help me care about all that jazz!

Where has the summer gone? I'm not complaining, fall is my favorite season, one thing i love about living in Nebraska, although i wish it lasted longer(that's what she said!). I'm excited for the leafs to turn brown, pumpkin patches, and jackets. I need to start to focus on what my Halloween costume will be this year. Mike and I have lightly talked couple costume. my original plan is to go as Rod from Hot Rod, the movie. Usually i just put something together at the last minute and its all golden!!

There is my little man, Elvis! He was wondering when he was going to get his vegetables. He loves tomato's and lettuce. Onions...not so much! I cant believe i got Elvis almost two years ago for 25% off, yes I got him because he was discounted. Sorry Elvis, that is the truth. However, i love the pieces out of you. xox

Mikey and I are doing wonderful. This picture is from the Lancaster fair. those funnel cakes were pretty delicious! We've been trying to go to Omaha at least once a month for a fun date night, we were unable to go this month because i was house sitting a lot. I'm determined to get there next month! He's been busy with working at Pearl Vision and writing scripts. Amazingly he has gotten me into reading...i know...i know...i just said the word reading!!! Anyways, Ive gotten into ready graphic novels. So far Ive read two books and one of his scripts. I cant wait to get my hands on more. Its been a nice way to pass the time at work on a slow day.

So because this is my blog i guess I'm technically aloud to talk about whatever i want, right? Good because i want to share that i am in love with this man! He makes me feel smart, artistic, and sexy. Of course every couple has things they need to work on, but i wouldn't want to do that with anybody else. I love my bearded boy! i feel we bring the best out in each other! (love you muffin face)

I keep getting distracted as i write this entry because i am watching Mad Men!! I don't know why i never started this show. for a while now i kept telling my self it probably isn't that good, only because i didn't want to accept the fact i have another show i need to keep up with. Well i was right. i cant stop watching! Once i am caught up the next show i need and have been wanting to watch is SixFeetUnder....ewww one of the guys in the show mixed vodka with his milk...gross!

Lets see right now I'm into watching True Blood, Dexter, The League, The IT Crowd, Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, Its Always Sunny, and probably some more. I wish there was more of Happy Endings on Hulu. that show is pretty awesome. I need to start to watch more British comedy's as well...i have a list around here somewhere!

well i think for a first post this wasn't too bad. it was a little bit more difficult then i thought. i need to get use to talking about what Ive been up to instead of saying working all the time. its time for me to focus on what i do in between my jobs and remember the good times.
